At a Con

This weekend I went to a con.  MileHi Con in Denver.  This was a smaller con.  Probably less than a thousand or so attendees.  Compared to several of the smaller cons I have attended this was pretty good.  I will say the organization was stellar.  I had some issues but all in all it was really good.
My issues were petty but they were there. The big one was that on the schedule there were listed several scenarios for D&D 5e.  I tried to attend 3 of them and not once was there a DM to be found.  The last scenario I tried on Sunday, I found someone with the handbook and we hung out for like 45 minutes.  Many people came by to join in and yet no DM.  I worked on my character, still it kind of sucked.  There were six of us and there was nothing to play.  BUMMER.  While we all waited to see if the DM was just late we chatted about us all trying to play throughout the weekend only to find no DM.  My other issue was scheduling.

Peri Charlifu Pottery
The vendor hall was meeh...nothing great nothing bad.  They even had someone selling jelly.
I went to watch the critter crunch or the robot battles.  Lots of fun.  The Art auction was great.  If you have never seen the pottery art of Peri Charlifu, I think you should check out his facebook page.  His talent is amazing!

The Con Suite was awesome.  I went several times.  There were always friendly people there.  Tons of food and soda.  The organizers did a spectacular job putting this together.

I have some concerns for this con.  First, The hotel they were in this year was small and will not allow for much growth.  This is an easy fix when they grow, move.  Second, I think the average age of attends was >45  years old.  Not good if you expect to keep going.  The people were all amazing, but this con will not last much longer if you do not bring in younger generations.  There was not any fun.  There was entertainment but the fun was seriously lacking.  There were no parties.  The con suite was fine, but not fun.  I went to a panel (I am not going to say which one) and I learned a lot but it was not fun.  Honestly, if I was at a larger con, I would have left this and one other other panel I attended and gone to something else.  But, this being so small I did not think the other options were any better so I stayed.

This con like many others was focused on literature.  To get a younger audience, they need to bring in things that are more relative to the younger crowd.  There are tons of YA authors out there and yet I did not meet a single one.  There was not a single panel on Game of Thrones, Arrow, Gotham, or any other currently popular sci-fi.  NOTHING!!!!!  No comics, no tv, NOTHING.  Not a single fan panel on what is on tv or in the movies.  There have been several movies, tv series, and best selling books come out in the last year since the last con.  We, as a society, are all looking for instant gratification, the younger generations especially.  They need to bring in new and current subject matter.

Two years ago I went to a struggling Baycon and they came up with a DIY room.  I think it saved that con.  When I went again this year there were DOZENS of folks under 30.  Maybe MileHi should try that too.  They need to do something.  The social media presence is little to none.  Beef it up!!! There has to be some volunteer that is a Twitter, Facebook, Pintrest, Vine, Instagram, Google Plus, Tinder, Snapchat, Cyberdust, etc guru.  Seriously, they have a webpage, and a smaaaaall facebook gathering.  Honestly, more relevant panels and panelists.  That in itself will go far.  Hell, get Nicholas Brendon, he does cons and apparently he is entertaining.

All in all, I liked this con.  It was entertaining, not really fun, but entertaining.  I hope they can grow and are able to continue.  If you are in the Denver area, I recommend going.

This week has been a busy week in sports.  My usual TV program watching has been relegated to the DVR since all of these sports have come up.  I am stressed about missing the season premiere of The Flash, but sports need to be watched in real time.  Super Heroes are ok to visit the DVR.
This week has been a busy week in sports. There has been football, college and professional.  NASCAR, the basketball pre-season began and the post-season for baseball.  I love sports in different scenarios.

My Nebraska Cornhuskers played and lost to the Michigan State Spartans.  Big bummer since it was the first Nebraska game I have been able to see on live TV in a long time.  Still it was amazing to be able to watch my team live.  It has been over a decade since I have seen one live.  There was a ton of red of crowd in the crowd and that made me so happy.

Then come my Kansas City Royals and beyond all doubt they clinched their play-off bid with a win over the Oakland A's.  After that, they went on and swept the LA Angels of Anaheim (what a load of a name). This is their first trip to the post season since they won the World Series in 1985.  I wanted to jump for joy and to cry for the look of sheer joy on the face of George Brett.

The San Francisco Giants beat the Pittsburg Pirates in the wild card and are currently up 2 games to 1 over the Washington Nationals-oh yeah what does Gloria Estefan have to do with the Nationals?  I was confused by that on the commentary.  Game 4 in SF is on now so I might update this after the game.  Maybe, maybe not.  Oh Well.

My brotherish-in-lawish went to the NASCAR race in Kansas City and had a total blast-do I know what happened?  Hell no but he and my sister from another mother had a blast.  I am not that huge of a fan but I have been to a couple of races and wow, it takes your breath away watching the cars go by and feeling their the whoosh.

My Dallas Mavericks are on tonight against the Houston Rockets and hopefully they will win.....I know it is pre-season and all but I want them to win.  It is funny listening to the commentators having difficulty with the Mavericks players, Chandler Parsons and Tyson Chandler.  I think this difficulty will continue for the whole season.

I have been so busy watching sports and I am sorry I have not updated on the weekly Gotham and Scorpion.  I watched them both a bit late and I think they are both continually getting better as the weeks go on.  Right now, though, I am busy rooting for whichever team is on.  GO HUSKERS, MAVS, GIANTS and I hope more than all the rest that the ROYALS win the World Series.

Monday Night Recap

The episode begins with a fight between some homeless kids, Lili Taylor and Frank Whaley.  In the fray a homeless man gets shot.  Cat woman is there and a bystander.  She watches over as Gordon looks over the corpse of the homeless guy.  She is quite the lurker.  Turns out there is a market for kids under 16. There is a massive kidnapping of homeless kids has been going on for awhile to the police.  Gordon and his partner fight over if these kids are important enough to worry about.  Enter Edward Nygma at the police station again...just to be annoying.  Shocking. These disappearances take us to Fish Mooney a mob boss(ish) played by Jada Pinkett Smith.  I have to say she is phenomenal and one of the highlights of the show.

Penguin is back and we watch him hitchhiking.  He kills one of the kids who officers him a ride.  The other he tries to ransom but is thus far unsuccessful.  Carol Kane plays Penguins mom and it is interesting to say the least.  Carol Kane plays every Carol Kane character she has ever played.

Bruce Wayne is having trouble adapting to life after his parents death and has started burning and cutting himself.  Alfred asks Gordon to help and Jim goes to Wayne Manor and has a chat with Bruce...did it do any good?  Who knows but we shall see.

As the episode progresses we follow the progression of the case of the missing homeless kids.  Periodically Lili Taylor pops up and I have to say she did an amazing job.  Cat a.k.a. Selina Kyle keeps getting almost caught in the kidnapping net.  At the end of the episode she talks to Gordon and tells him he knows who killed the Waynes...cut scene.

So here is the lowdown.  This episode is much better than the last. I really liked it and I am now excited for next week.

I love this show.  I am not going into a recap as the hokey techy stuff makes me laugh.  But still, I love this show.  This show has angst, heart and action.  You can not beat that combination.  I love love love it.  The greatness of Scorpion and...ok Gotham... gives me something to look forward to during the Monday blahs.

YAYAY Goldbergs

Tonight was the season 2 premiere of the Goldbergs on ABC.  WOO HOOOOO!  I love this show and I am so excited it got a second season.  Honestly this is the first comedy in years that I have thought it truly funny and not just a mockery of something.  Last season there were multiple episodes that made me laugh so hard I had to push pause.  I laughed until I cried and once I was able to breathe correctly again I would resume watching.  I have high expectations for this season.  If you have not seen the Goonies episode from last season then that is 20 minutes of must-see TV.

Now for the new season. It begins with the making of a mixed tape.  OMG who did not make or receive mixed tapes in the 80's or early 90's?  Adam made a tape for his girlfriend Dana and like an amateur he leaves it out for his mom to find.  What do you know, Beverly thinks it is for her.  LOLOL his mom thinks her teenage son made her a mixed tape.  In an attempt to not hurt her feelings Adam does not tell her that it is for Dana.  He makes a copy and now they both have one.  Needless to say they both find out that the other has the tape and which one was the tape originally made for.

Then there is the debacle of Barry getting a fake ID and flashing it all over school.  Moron.  He of course makes a deal to buy beer and then gets the ID confiscated.  MORON.  He makes a feeble attempt to buy the beer with his dads ID at the same store his dad goes to everyday for coffee.  MORON.  When the beer fails he goes and gets hero sandwiches and in the end dad a.k.a. Murray saves him from making an even bigger ass of himself.  Yay, Murray.
Gradndpa a.k.a. Pops finally explains to Bev that the tape was not for her and for Dana.  She takes this to mean she has to intervene with the troubled Adam-Dana relationship.  She is the greatest meddler there ever was.

All in all, this was a top notch episode, not like anything else is possible.  I love the stories this show presents.  I love the characters and more than that, I love the cast.  While everyone is super fantastic, I think Wendi McLendon-Covey is beyond amazing.  You can have a crazy mom, but without a stupendous actress, she would not be lovable and charming.
Congrats to the entire cast and crew for another season and another stellar episode.
See you next week!

Survivor Blood vs Water

It is time for another season of Survivor.  This is another season of Blood vs Water.  Loved ones are on opposing tribes and will have to work together and yet work against each other.  This battle came right at the start of the episode where Jeremy volunteered to be the first to do a challenge and he the person he had to go against was his wife, Val.  Val is a police office in Boston and her husband is a firefighter in Cambridge.  This firefigher/police rivalry is already rampant in their relationship and he is trying to be a protector-provider but she is determined to be independent.  He wins the challenge and she is sent to exile island.    Jeremy also has to choose one of his own tribe to go with her.  He chooses the oldest man, Keith to join Val thinking he will take care of her.  LOL  She gets a clue to the idol back at camp.  Good for her.

Back at camp Jeremy decides to take the Russel Hantz approach with gathering a bunch of women to him.  Not necessarily a good or bad thing but it has become typical for the egotist to do this.  On the other tribe you have John Rocker a former pitcher for the Atlanta Braves.  He is trying to keep his history a secret but he is instantly recognized by the father/son duo of Keith and Wes.  With Keith on exile, Wes instantly calls him out.  He does this in private and I can not disagree with John when he thinks it might be best for him to get rid of Wes sooner than later.
Immunity time and the blue tribe of Jeremy wins the immunity.  Woo hoo for them. Keith is instantly on the outs since he was on exile for the first three days.  He is trying to fit in and Jeremy takes him aside and tells Keith that he owes him for taking care of Val.  What a jackass.  Val can obviously take care of herself.....DOI she is a cop.  Moron.  It seems like Keith is also a little apprehensive of Jeremy.  Good for him.

On the losing orange tribe, the fucking dumb girls start a all girl alliance and instantly count Josh in their alliance.  DURR, just because he is gay does not mean he is feminine or will be part of your click.  Dumb asses.  Lordy I hate the female pack mentality.  Thank goodness he calls them out in the diary cam and does not like it either.  Usually I am all about women winning, but they have already decided they are the young cute group and anyone that is older than them is too old.  YUCK!  I am NOT rooting for any of those females.  The other tribe hells to the yeah.  It is possible that Val, being three days behind is not really part of this, but more trying to fit in and then she is ok.

Tribal council comes and Nadiya, one of the twin sisters who were on the Amazing Race twice comes out of the gate and calls Josh a girl and how they-the girls(and Josh) have to go with the strong competitors.  She has made it obvious that she wants to get rid of Dale, the oldest tribe member who started fire for them with his glasses.  Probably due to editing she talks for half of tribal.  Sheesh.  Anyone who talks that much at tribal is a moron.  The vote comes back split, and in the end Nadiya is voted out.
Fun Fun Fun I love Survivor.

Gotham and Scorpion

Tonight is the first big night of fall season Premieres.  There was Gotham, Scorpion, Forever and season 2 of Sleepy Hollow.   This is the recap of Gotham and Scorpion.  ***SPOILER ALERT***   If you have not seen either, beware.

Gotham started with a teenage girl with large steampunk style goggles on her head stealing milk and pickpocketing.  Moments later she gives the milk to a cat, guess who she is...that is right Selina Kyle a.k.a. Cat Woman.  Along with Bruce, she observes the murder of Martha and Thomas Wayne.  Soon we see Jim Gordon and he and the grieving Bruce become chummy.

During the investigation we come across the mob boss Carmine Falcone, along with a young girl called Ivy who keeps playing with plants, Edward Nigma who keeps asking questions in the form of riddles, and a squeaky guy working for the mob that they tease by calling him penguin.  REALLY?!?!?!  All of them in the first episode?!?  Then there is the confusing part of Gordons' corrupt partner being named Harvey, not Harvey Dent though.  Seriously, why do you blow this big of a wad this soon?  The end of the episode is after Jim tells Bruce they did not catch the man who killed his parents and Jim drives away.  On his way out, who do we see perched on the wall overlooking Wayne Manor?  No one other than the illustrious Selina Kyle.

I am hopeful that they will leave these not yet known villains alone and move on with the story.  I am doubtful, though.  The story and the acting were great all around.  My only negative is the overindulgence of the not-yet-known villains.  I am sure next episode we will see the beginnings of Mr Freeze, King Tut, the Joker and maybe an appearance of the soon to become Two-Face.

If they bring in Lee Meriweather, Eartha Kitt, or Julie Numar to be the mother of Selena, I am done.  For now, the story(without the gag villain cameos), the acting and the premise all seem top notch.  I am looking forward to episode 2 before I pass real judgement.  I hope to hear what you all think.  Drop me a line and let me know where you think I am on point and where you think I strayed.

Scorpion is the alias of a young boy who hacked into NASA to get the blue prints of the shuttle to put on the wall.  Move forward several years and Scorpion has grown up.  He created a think tank of sorts with three colleagues who are: a mechanical prodigy, a human calculator and a world class shrink.
Within the first five minutes I liked this show way more than I like Gotham.  I am sure there is tons of technobabble that causes plot holes but since I am not a technogeek, I am good to go.  Some parts of it really stretched the realm of believability but still I loved it.

This show is punchy, with good writing and acting.  There is a fair bit of action and drama that are not commonly found in the same single hour of network tv.  This show I will recommend to anyone.

Yeah, I really like this show so far and I really look forward to seeing what happens next week.

Reality vs Reality TV

Kevin Smith and the Secret Stash team

I read this blog today and it made me think. Here it is: Nerd Trader   Please, check it out when you are done here.I am a reality TV junkie.  From Survivor to Tableop to Project Runway and everything in between, I love it.  I have some limitations.  I can not get behind what my mom calls trash TV which includes Honey Boo Boo, Teen Mom or The Real Houswives (shhh I love New Jersey-that is our secret). If it is a new show I will watch it and see.   There are too many shows to name these days but I can honestly say I have tried most if not all for at least one episode.  There are plenty that I turned off during the first episode.  What happened to Real World anyway?  They were strangers living in a house.  They all had jobs or had to get jobs.  Now is is all about hooking up...I miss the old Real World....remember Real World Road Rules Challenge?  That was cool too. (sorry went of on a tangent).

I love the standard do a project and compete with the other contestants.  Think Project Runway, Top Chef and half of what is on the Food Network these days.  Your product is judged and if it sucks the worst, you are kicked off of the show.  To me this is a great formula.  Then you have the style of Big Brother The Bachelor and Survivor where the cast themselves chose the person who is going home.  With all of these I am sure the producers are in the ears of those doing the kicking off, trying to push their own agendas or what they think will make for better TV.  But, other than that, there seems to be a bit of honesty in the process of kicking people off, either way it is done.  The production comes across in the background if at all.  Perhaps that is why I love them all (not this season of Big Brother though, it SUCKS so bad I quit watching a month ago). Dude, Big Brother is sooooo bad this season it leaves the horror of last season in the dust.  At least I tuned in last year to see what racist homophobic rant any one of the cast were going to dive into.  This season Allison Grodner has a very obvious crush on Frankie Grande and has rigged several phases of the show to benefit Frankie.  This is not what the game is about.  There have been questionable production interventions in the past but this is so blatant is is obnoxious and ruins the heart of the game. (sorry another tangent).

There are some shows that play to my core interests, Heroes of Cosplay, Face/Off, Toy Hunter and Comic Book Men to name a few.  I have problems with Toy Hunter and Comic Book Men.  These shows are predicated on buying and selling of goods.  While I like the casts and LOVE Kevin Smith, I do not like the whole premise of buying and selling.  Unlike the folks in Pawn Stars, American Pickers and Storage Wars, I really like the entire cast of both shows. Jordan, and The Secret Stash crew are all nice and do not come across as total greedy asshats like so many of the others. That combined with the fact that they are all so brilliant in their vast knowledge makes these shows easy to watch.  I just have problems seeing these as reality at all.  Seriously, I don't.  I mean really, how many brilliant scores can you truly have with the cameras rolling?  Not that many unless they are staged.  I get it I do, you are making a TV show and have to make it interesting.  I am not going to say a whole lot about them because they are relatively new and maybe I am just bitchy.  I hope both continue to run for several more seasons.  The casts of both are entertaining so you should check them out and see what you think. (and Kevin Smith is Hot--Jordan is not too bad either)

I have tried to avoid this post but finally the time has come and I can resist no longer.  I hate band waggoners.  I hate them and my whole life I have worked hard to not be one.  I was planning on never seeing Frozen because of the hype. This late winter this movie was all over the place.  Political pundints, night time talk shows and on the radio.  It was everywhere.  Ok, there are too many factors for this movie to not be awesome but still I resisted.
Finally the extreme political right forced me to do it.  With all of the hate-mongering and insistence this movie promotes homosexuality, who could resist?  I saw it for the first time this past spring.  I pondered on it for awhile as I missed any gay references.  I then I asked some of my gay friends about this whole pro-gay thing and to point out what I obviously missed.  They laughed at me and told me that I had not missed anything.  WHEW, I thought I was really dense or something.  Then came John Travolta and the 'Wickedly talented one and only Adele Dazeem'.  Seriously? You can't say Idina Menzel?  Watch it here: John Travolta is kinda stupid.

This summer I made a trip to my parents house.  Neither had seen Frozen although they owned the DVD.  One late night my Mom and I stayed up to the early hours watching it and I loved it even more.  She made my dad watch it the following evening and he was toe-tapping through the music.  Later during the visit we made my sister watch it.  She liked it too, so far everyone I know that has seen it likes it.  I have insomnia problems and decided to put it on repeat so several nights I watched it once or more.  During this two week vacation I think I saw Frozen over a dozen times.

I am not a fan of buying music off of iTunes but, well....I bought the soundtrack and also the DVD.  I love this movie.  The music is spectacular, the movie is heartfelt and warm.  Who knew Kristen Bell could sing so beautifully?  Not this gal.

The costumes, can you call them costumes if they are animated?  Well, the dresses are so BEE-YOU-TEE-FUL.  I mean seriously who does not want Elsa's snow queen dress?!?! I know I do.  That is for damn sure...She is HOT...kinda weird but yeah.   I know for awhile Disney was having trouble keeping up with the demand for Elsa's dress for the little girls and Halloween.  I do not know if they have caught up or not. Good luck to all of the parents out there.  It might be easier to find a seamstress to make you one.

OLAF, I totally need him as my BFF, hell he has his own Flurry. Josh Gad, who does the voice of Olaf took me back to the crooners of old.  Bing Crosby is who he made me think of to be honest.  It might just be the song and the music, but I think it is the voice that made the song what it is.

The trolls, how cute are they?  "By the way, I don't see no ring".  I mean really?  They roll on into your heart.  The animation is great and their script even better.

A friend of mine has a daughter in day care and on the wall of the day care is a poster that says "Days since a Frozen song was sung".  He tells me it has been at zero for as long as he has taken his daughter there.  HA!  I can only imagine what it would be like if you had a kid who liked this movie.  I know one or more of the songs goes through my head most days if not every day.  Apparently the armed forces likes this movie too.  Check it out here: Marines watching Let it Go.

How this is considered to promote homosexuality is beyond me.  Maybe it is because of the song Let it Go?  Nope, not at all, I do not get it...makes no sense.  I have to thank the far right crazies though because without them I would not have seen this movie-certainly this soon if not at all.  To them I ask "Do you want to build a snowman"?

Dragon 2014

HOLY BANANAS FOLKS, DRAGON CON IS OVER. This year was amazing as always so here is my recount of what happened...sort of.

For those of you who are not familiar with Dragon Con, it is a four day gathering of all things nerdy in Atlanta, GA held over Labor day weekend every year.  This is in the loosest sense comparable to the more well known ComicCon.  The main difference between the two is that ComicCon is industry driven, DragonCon is fan driven.  This con is put on by the fans and for the fans of all things geeky.

At Dragon Con there are programming tracks that break up the different genres of fandom,  Currently there are over 40 tracks and it grows and changes every year.  Some of the tracks are: Alternate History- for the Steampunk crowd, Horror for all of the Cthulu lovers out there, Costuming-I think this one is self explanatory, Brit Track for all things Brit, Classics for those who like older sci-fi and oh so many more.

I check into the hotel Tuesday and watch as all of the con goers arrive.  I love to watch the before the con and how it organically grows as the furniture is moved out, signs moved in and people arrive.  Wednesday, I get the GoPro fired up and I do my pre-con walk-throughs.  I go to all of the hotels and look in all of the nooks and crannies.  I make sure I know where my favorite tracks have moved to and the fastest (at this time) ways in and out of that area.  I check out the two food courts and the vendors center (what I can get into).  I record it all and watch it later when I am jonesing for next year.  I do the obligatory pre-con dinner at Sear and love every bite.

Thursday I watch all of the people arrive and this year there were several tracks that had events going on so I went to a few.  There were lots of music groups this year and there were several new stages for them to show off their skill.  Kinda cool.

Friday the chaos begins.  The cosplayers come out in force.  There were so many great costumes this year.  Every year is great and maybe I just got lucky but this year seemed to be better for what I saw.  I saw a very plus size woman as Wonder Woman just own it.  She was amazing.  So were the guys dressed as the "Wet Bandits" a.k.a. Daniel Stern and Joe Pesci from Home Alone.  Cool.

This year, more so than the rest seemed a lot more crowded.  I was turned away from several panels that were over crowded.  I am not talking big celebrity panels, but smaller ones.  Adult Oragami was one.  HUHUH?!?!? I got to the line 30 minutes early then someone comes out of the panel room and tells us that the room is already full.  For oragami?  Holy cow.  Evey year is busy but doggone, this was bad.
I went to the Dealers Room(s) at America's Mart and crowded does not describe it.  Rumor has it that at one time the fire marshal came to limit people.  I do not know if that is fact or not, but I would not be surprised at all.  When I first got there it was not too bad but people kept filing in and it got to be too much.  Once in the rooms it was so hard to navigate and find your way out.  Crazy mess.  Supposedly there is a plan in place for next year to move the hall in to building 2 of the America's Mart and that has more floor space for walking between the individual vendors.  I am all for this.  WOO HOO.

Saturday was the parade which I avoid like the plague.  Way too many people for my liking.  I go to panels during the parade and have a good time with smaller crowds.  People start to trickle in after the parade and then the insanity begins.  In the Marriott you can barely move anywhere,  no matter what floor you were on.  The Hilton and Hyatt were barely any better.  YUCK.  It took me almost an hour to get from they Hyatt to the Hilton.  This year the Hilton was busier than it had ever been.

As always there were several parties.  I wandered into a Star Trek party and danced with some drunk Klingons. Had a moment with some Elven Kings doing the YMCA at a Hobbit party.  I had a blast at all of the parties I went to.

Sunday and Monday were much better in terms of crowds so I was able to go to so many more panels and gatherings.  Friends, new thoughts, ideas and fun.  My favorite Monday panel has been the same for the last several years.  It is Namarie-Into the West put on by the Tolkien Track.  Basically it is a recap of what they did this year and suggestions for next year.  Totally awesome as always.
Monday is also kind of fun watching the mass exedous.  Kinda sad but fun too.

I do not want to recommend Dragon Con to anyone because then it will just make it more crowded for me.  Selfish I know but damn, it is so crowded I do not want any more people there.  BUUUUTTT if you have the need to feel at home with people of your own kind, like I do, Dragon Con is the place to be at home with thousands of people who will show you nothing but love in your choice of nerdery.

Lost Girl

First I have to tell you I have a huge crush on Kenzie.  That being said, let me tell you about the show.  Lost Girl is brought to us by The Canadian Television Fund.  This show is set in Canada where a female succubus (BO) does not really understand her powers.  We start in the human world where Bo is trying to survive.  She sees a human being assaulted and rescues her.
BO (Anna Silk) and KENZIE (Ksenia Solo)
The human in question becomes her BFF (Kenzie).  Not long after this incident she finds out she is Fae. Kenzie and Bo rapidly evolve into the dynamic duo decide to become private investigators.

The Fae people are a vast population of folks who live among the mere humans.  There are dozens of variants of Fae including but not limited to: Succubus, Siren, Shape Shifter, Druid, Valkyrie and dozens more.  There are two political affiliations in which a Fae decides to follow, the Light or the Dark.  As in most things supernatural, the Light is good and the Dark is bad.  There are varying degrees of both of course but this is a general line to follow. With Bo being new to the Fae world, both sides try to recruit her.  Bo who grew up human does not think this is right and refuses to become aligned with either side.  From that moment on, she is known by both sides as the "Unaligned Succubus".

This show is bad ass I have to say.  I love it.  Every episode you have a new baddie to fight (Light or Dark Fae or something all together different). With that often comes a new kind of Fae which very few people know of.  There are tons of things to learn about this world and all the time Bo and Kenzie ask "What?!?!?" and the bartender of the Dal Riata, Trick, goes to the back of the bar and looks it up in his library.  The Dal Riata is a neutral bar in which both Light and Dark Fae can go and feel safe.  This is a really cool world that mixes with the human world.  There are even Fae cops who work in the human world to help keep Fae crime unnoticed by the humans and to then find what looks like human crime and realize that it is a Fae who is doing it.

The cast is great.  You have Bo played by Anna Silk, Ksenia Solo as Kenzie, Rick Howland as Trick and many other greats.  Aaron Ashmore of Warehouse 13 fame joins in also.  The cast all seems to have a great rapport and this always keeps you on your toes.

Since Bo is a succubus there is a fair amount of sex that SyFy has to cut out for us Americans, but if you can get your hands on the Canadian version and do not mind a little sex with your supernatural, I HIGHLY recommend this show.  If you mind sex, watch it on SyFy, it is still awesome.  This is fun and entertaining show and I can not wait for season five.

P.S.  Several members of the cast will be attending DragonCon this year.  Aaron Ashmore, Zoie Palmer, Rick Howland and KENZIE a.k.a Ksenia Solo will all be there WOO HOOO I am so going to see them.

Boring Big Brother

I am already tired with Big Brother.  I am tired of this Koombyah shit.  The house wants____________ out so the house all votes that way.  What a load of garbage.  Cody you could have thrown a vote to keep Devin and let Caleb's paranoia run rampant.  Instead, lets not cause waves.  Last week they had a great opportunity to get rid of Caleb who is a boring idiot.  All he thinks about is Amber and she is not into him at all.  I get that no one liked Devin and he was kind of a dick, but damn.  Many of this cast wanted to be on Survivor, have none of you idiots watched Survivor????  You take with you to the end someone that the rest of the house loathes and no one will give that person the money.  Bam you won half a million dollars.

Frankie and Cody won HOH and to the surprise of no one the put up Jocasta, Brittany, Amber and Victoria.  These stupid idiots in the HOH....which of these four is a challenge to beat you in the end....durrrrrhhhh NONE OF THEM WILL WIN THE GAME.  When are you going to pay attention and start nominating people who are a threat to win the game?  If things do not rapidly improve, this will be no better than last season and I am done.

Big Brother Battle of the Block

This week's two Heads of Household are Nicole and Derrick.  Derrick who thinks he is one of the greatest minds in BB and Nicole who wants nothing more than to hide under the radar.  Nicole and Derrick talk about their nominations and know for sure Nicole will put up Amber and Derrick will put up Jocasta.  They think these two will cause the least amount of waves.  The last two are the ones in question.  In the midst of these deliberations Big Brother shows that the night before the last eviction Devin goes to Donny, Jocasta and Brittany and spills the beans on the Bomb Squad.  After Nicole wins her HoH Christine tells her about the Bomb Squad also.

Derrick approaches Caleb and tells him about Nicole and her nominating Amber and asks what Caleb is going to do.  Like Derrick and Nicole thought Caleb offered to go up so he could throw the Battle of the Block competition and Amber can be safe.  There is Derricks' second nominee and now to Nicoles'.  The morning of nominations Nicole calls Donny aside and Nicole tells him in confidence of the plan with Caleb to throw the competition.kind of asks his opinion.  He throws out Christine......DURRRRH Donny, do you not see how close Nicole is with Christine?!?!?!?  When the conversation is over, Nicole is still unsure of her second nominee.  Donny goes downstairs and tells Jocasta and Brittany.  Donny is so worried about the Bomb Squad that he is all about getting anyone in that group of eight out.  Later that day, Amber tells Nicole that she heard Donny telling Jocasta and Brittany of the plan for Caleb to throw the comp.  UGGG Now Nicole knows about Donny and feels betrayed.

Derrick and Nicole open eggs and Nicole won the first pick of nominations.  Nicole nominates Donny and Amber.  Derrick chose Caleb and Jocasta  and in his nomination speech told everyone Caleb volunteered to save Amber.

Big Brother shows us what TeamAmerica is up to.  The first task has been assigned.  The team is to start a rumor that one of the house guests are related to a house guest of a previous season.  They have to make the entire house spread this rumor around for it to count.  They have chosen Zach to be related to Amanda from last season.  They are both from the same area in south Florida.  They will use Paola as a scapegoat.  They will say that Paola whispered this information about Zach to Donny on her way out.

Now to the nomination ceremony.  Nicole goes first and the only ones the seem shocked are Jocasta and Donny.  Nicole and Donny talk it out and he asks her if she said not to tell anyone and she thought it was implied but since she did not call it out he told.  Lots of tears from both but it seems hashed out now.

The Battle of the block is hosted by Brittany.  The competitors are wizards.  Each duo is attached together at the waist.  One player runs to a barrel of puzzle pieces this causes the other pair to be lifted in the air against a wall.  They run back to their partner and hand over the pieces.  As they run back to their partner the slack in the rope brings the partner back to ground.  The player against the wall is then lifted in the  air as the second partner runs back for another piece.  The runners were Caleb and Donny and the liftees were Jocasta and Amber.  Even thought Caleb said he was throwing it, the two ladies were terrible and could not do a puzzle to save their life.  In the end Donny and Amber were victorious.    We shall see how this plays out with veto now.  On a personal note I think this is a great opportunity to get rid of a strong and well liked player but we shall see what the house guests think later in the week.

BB Eviction and HOH Night

The night began with the continuation of last night's episode and the veto. They showed Paola and Zach calling out Devin.  Zach who was a member of the "Bomb Squad" was put up by an alliance member.  Paola had made a deal with Devin that if she threw the HOH then he would use the veto on her.  He lied and used the veto on Brittany instead.  I totally agree with the two of them going off.  Zach exposed the "Bomb Squad" and Paola told everyone that Nicole and Hayden knew about the deal.  They did know but they had nothing to do with it.  Lots of screaming and anarchy.  Right after that it was assumed everyone would vote out Zach.  The girls FINALLY talked to each other and while they want to keep Paola, they know Devin is Zachs' target and Zack has a better chance at winning HOH than does Paola.  They take their chance that Zach has dropped out of the "Bomb Squad" and will help to get Devin and Cody out.
Then in no real surprise, a 10-2 vote, Paola was evicted.  Donny and Jacosta were the two votes for Paola.  Again, not surprising.  In the goodbye messages, Zach and Devin were a bit ugly and Donny's message was sweet and made Paola tear up.

To the HOH Competition.  "Underwater Polo" is what this comp is called.  Last night the house guests were given a practice field where they could practice for one hour.  Even Devin, the current HOH that can not compete, practiced.  Odd.  The comp was a ramp sloping down away from the house guests.  The house guests had to hit a ball with a croquet mallet to the end.  There were several obstacles on the ramp and at the end there were several point slots.  The two competitors that hit the ball into the highest point slot became the new Heads of Household.  Nicole got the highest score of 29 and Derrick the second highest at 28.  Congrats to the 2 new Heads of Household.

Pop Culture Roadtrip

Here is an assignment for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers.  Pop Culture Roadtrip.  Where would I go if money were no object.  I would of course love to go to New Zealand and travel through all of the Shire and all of the other locations in Lord of the Rings.  That being said, I think I would be crushed to see how much of it is not the same as in the movies because of cinematic movie touches.  I would rather go somewhere  I would not be devastated if my imagination is better than reality.

Truly, here is what I would do:  if money were no object, I would take a tour of the wars.  I would start at home in the U.S.A. I would go through the major battlefields of the revolution and the civil wars, the war of 1812 (too many movies and tv shows to mention) and then move on to Europe.  I would travel throughout Europe and all of the major points of battle during the Great War including the where the major trenches were on the French-German lines.  (Downton Abbey)

I would then take a tour and follow what the Easy Company 506 Airborne did.  (Band of Brothers)  I would start in Georgia, go to NYC then England.  From England go to Normandy, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Austria.  Once the BoB tour is over I would go to north Africa, Italy and Russia to see were other major battles took place.  I want to see where so much of our history occurred and imagine back to a time before cell phones and T.V.  I want to remember the heroes that fought and died to save the world from so much tyranny and oppression.

If we remember the past, then we are not likely to make the same mistakes.  Thank you to all of our freedom fighters, no matter the country, no matter the race or religion.  Thank you to their families, past, present and future.  God Bless and Happy Independence Day!

This was another assignment for the League.  Please check out other places to go here:

BB First Eviction

Tonight is a night of recap for what has happened in the house over the last two weeks.  We see the Junior High drama of Caleb showing interest in Amber.  Joey showing an alternate personality in Alex and misc other drama.  In the end it was a unanimous decision to evict the first member of Team America, Joey.  In the goodbye interviews Caleb gets way cocky and tells Joey of the Bomb Squad.  The Bomb Squad is the eight member alliance that includes Amber, Caleb, Christine, Cody, Derrick, Devin, Frankie and Zach.  She was not surprised by the alliance at all but it was still an overly cocky move.

Next is the HOH comp.  The comp is divided into two.  Girls and Boys.  Each have to walk across a balance beam, grab a keg and take it back to the original post.  First to get six kegs to the start and hit the button wins.  If a keg is dropped or someone falls off of the beam, they are out of the competition.  From the balcony above, the boys are throwing frisbees at the girls.  Brittany, Christine and Amber are out to the early lead and then Brittany falls off.  Meanwhile through the entire competition, Paola only gets one keg to the other side.  Amber is the first to get all kegs to the other side with Christine not far behind.

Next is the boys.  The first to fall off is Derrick.  Hayden, Devin and Cody all are in a race.  Cody hits the button first.  As we go to commercial Julie tells us there is a potential foul and then they show Donny opening the letter for the second invite to be a part of Team America.  When we come back from commercial Julie announces that Cody hits the button first but his foot touches the ground just before he hits the button therefore, Devin is the winner.
(commentary from watching the live feeds.  Devin is a bully and I am not a fan).
We leave the house and they are all stunned and not a bit happy that Devin is one of the two new HOH's.  Good luck to both and we will be back on Sunday.

Big Brother Episode 2 Recap

Hello and happy night two of Big Brother.  After the introductions of the next eight castmates the first four in the house are Caleb, Christine, Hayden and Jocasta.  It is mentioned by the new eight that they notice the others from the first night are already aligned.  Joey takes an instant interest in Christine, Brittany and Derrick seem to bond over having kids and Frankie and Victoria are already BFF's.  This being said there was no showing of instant alliances.  Next is the second HOH.  The comp is called "Over the Coals".  There is a bar that everyone must lay on as it spins them upside down.  They go out in this order:  Victoria, Brittany, Christine, Jocasta, Zach (intentionally dropped), Derrick, Hayden and the winner of the second HOH is Caleb (to no ones surprise).

Caleb spinning on a BBQ spit

Once the cast goes back in the house, Julie explains the twist of the two HOH's and the new competition called "Battle of the Block."  The two HOHs' will each nominate two people for elimination.  These nominees will fight in the Battle of the Block and the winners will be safe-similar to veto-and the HOH that nominated them will now be back in the pool so when the actual veto comp takes place the old HOH will now be eligible to go on the block if either of the two remaining nominees comes down.  UGGGG Who is going to want to be HOH?  I guess it is competition ho's who will never throw a comp.

After the next commercial break Julie tells us about Team America and the new three person alliance that will be chosen by the viewers.  The first person chosen was Joey.  I am shocked.  I thought for sure it was a given that it would be Frankie.  It might still be and they put Joey in first,  just out of order.  I love the pick of Joey and I think she will do great representing the viewers.   This summer is going to get messy.  Great twists this time Big Brother.  Keep watching America and we will have a good summer.

Big Brother 2014 Episode 1 recap

Hello and welcome to a new summer of Big Brother!!!!!!!

Tonight the first eight house guests entered the home.  They were Amber, Cody, Devin, Donny, Frankie, Joey, Nicole and Paola.  Right off the bat the group decided that they were going to be an alliance of eight so when the new folks come in they are already on the outs.  Devin approached Donny and now they have an alliance.  Paola saw Frankie and Cody playing chess and took that to mean they are in an alliance.  She ran to the girls and created her idea of elQuatro alliance of four girls.  HAHAHAH... I already see this as doomed.  Paola has the hots for Cody and Devin thought Paola looked good.  Meanwhile Amber is all into Devin but sees him checking out Paola.  This is making for a jealous girl which means doom for this girl alliance.
Next up is the HOH comp.  Julie tells the house guests about the comp and that this season is different and so is the HOH.  Off they go to do the comp.  The comp is called "Go Fly a Kite".  Everyone is on a spinning log and holding a rope that is attached to a kite which is hovering over a sand castle.  Last one still on the log is the new HOH.  First off was Paola then Joey, Nicole, Donny, Devin, and Caleb.  Amber and Frankie were the final two with Amber stating she threw it to Frankie since she was not sure how the new HOH would work.
Shortly after the HOH comp completed Julie came on and told the house guests that there would now be two Heads of Household.  Frankie began to freak and end of the houseguests for now.  Julie tells us about America's Team.  The viewers get to vote for a secret 3 man alliance and they will have to work together throughout the season.  We will see how this goes and how long it lasts.
Tomorrow the remaining eight house guests will enter and we can assume the next HOH comp also.  Catch you tomorrow.

Big Brother Preview

Another season of Big Brother is upon us.  There are several changes to the set-up of the game for this season.  There are going to be two heads of household and then a HOH comp between the two to see who gets to do the final nominations.  Not sure how this is going to play out but we will learn more as the season premiere comes closer.  This season seems to have a lot of plants or people who have never heard of Big Brother.  There are 3 or maybe 4 out of the 15 who have seen more than the most recent two seasons in sequester.  Kind of bums me out.  But, after last season of "super fans" which was disastrous, I can understand why production went this route.  Thus far, I am not relating to this cast but as we have seen in seasons past, things change.  Here are my initial impressions after watching some of the cast introduction interviews.

Does not know BB and does not seem to have the intelligence to hook up with someone who does know what is going on and does not come across as a smart person at all.  I think she will be a floater as there are bigger threats so will not necessarily go too early.

Mom of 3 who was picked up to be a cast member two weeks ago.  She comes across as pretty intelligent with potential to latch onto someone who knows more about the game and learn something from them.  I think she might last awhile as she comes across as a quick learner.

A hunter from Texas.  He sounds a bit like a jerk.  He might be the nicest person on the planet but he does not come across that way on camera.  He seems more interested in a showmance than in winning the game.  I think his bad attitude will get him out pretty early.

A BB fan and a barista from Arizona.  She seems to be a genuinely nice person.  She loves to play Settlers of Catan.  Woo hoo.  Her strategy is to get an alliance on one side of the house then become friends with some folks on the other side and keep that secret.  I pick her to go far and be in the final three.

A twenty something plant.  He comes across as likable and big into working out.  I am not sure how he will fit in.  If there is a cool kids alliance, he will definitely be a part of it.  He will probably last a bit as there are bigger characters but I do not think he will win.

An undercover cop from Rhode Island.  He comes across as a confident gun loving kind of guy,  His plan was initially to keep his cop status a secret and then wants to teach the world to play with integrity.  LOL Integrity and Big Brother...NOT! Remember Kappy?  I think he is doomed and will not last very long at all.

He is a big buff guy.  Generally big guys are big targets.  He stated he quit baseball to be with his daughter.  Not sure I buy that or not.  He seems somewhat aware of BB so not necessarily a plant.  Very happy for a showmance.  Not usually a good road to take but he comes across likable.  I think if he can survive the BB curse of buff guys not going early.  I think he can last awhile but probably not make it to the jury.

Groundskeeper 42 who looks like he came straight from the cast of Duck Dynasty.  States he is a big fan of the show.  He reminds me more of Chicken George, fun loving and worried about being loved by America.  Comes across as a nice good guy.  I think he will make it through to the jury and possibly to the end.

He is a crazy head of the Cool Kids Alliance.  He is a bit loud and can be perceived as obnoxious in close quarters.  He is a YouTube personality and his sister is Ariana Grande so if there is any Americas Vote then he will win it hands down.  That will be similar to last season and Elisa getting the vote from fan favorite sister Rachel's fan club.  I think seems fun and likable.  I hope America keeps out of this season and he can make it to jury.

So Cal biker seems kind of like a hippie wannabe...surfer bro type.  Another plant from production who is does not show a lot of BB knowledge.  He reminds me of David from last season and is ready for a showmance.  I do not think he is going to be considered a big threat but more along the lines of the expendable member of an alliance.  He wants to be like Frank or Hayden from seasons past and I do not think that is necessarily the route to take.  I do not think he is going to last a long time.

A loud minister from Atlanta.  I think if there is a bible alliance she will do ok.  I am worried about her ministering the rest of the cast.  If she keeps away from that, maybe she can make it to jury but otherwise she will go early.

A hairdresser from Seattle.  Says her fav player is Gina Marie.  LOLOL She is another plant and my guess is she has only seen the last half of last season.  UGGG.  She seems nice and is determined to be the first nice girl to win the game.  HAHAHAHA  She appears to be a bit obnoxious but I think there will be a lot of bigger targets so she will last until jury.

Nurse from Michigan, seems quiet I think she is a bit of a floater.  She says she is a big fan and she reminds me of Danielle with Dan and Ian and she likes Ian.  I see her not being a big threat so will last a long time.

Otherwise known as PAO-PAO a DJ from NY.  I think she is a bit crazy.  She is not looking for a showmance and is a friend of Gina Marie....ugg.  She is charismatic but I do not think she has enough game chops to go far.  Fun to watch but I think she will annoy people too much and will get ousted too early.

Photographer from Brooklyn.  Another recruit.  Gross.  Comes across as stuck up.  Says she will manipulate people with her smile.  EWWW I am not a fan.  I think she will become people enemy number one or at least two.  I think she will not last long.

Unemployed self described con-artist.  He is agressive and funny.  I think he is awesome.  He is all about the money and does not care who hates him.  I think he is hilarious and hope he goes far.  I think he will last until jury at least.

These are just my opinions.  Let me know what are some of your thoughts and tune in Wednesday for the season premiere.

Rockstar: INXS

I have a tradition.  Whenever I go on vacation to Colorado, I watch  Rockstar: INXS.  This was a show on CBS that originally aired back in 2005.  This show was a reality singing competition show where the band INXS was looking for a new lead singer to replace the deceased Michael Hutchence.  There were 15 contestants that made the cut and were put on the air.  Brooke Burke was the host and Dave Navarro (how hot is he anyway?!?!?) was the liason to the band.
Each week there would be a night of performances and then a night of elimination where one of the contestants would of course go home.  There was also a special mini episode which showed what Dave called Clinics.  The clinics gave the contestants some lessons in being a lead singer for a huge band.  These clinics ranged from Fashion to Vocal Coaching and several others.  Elimination was based on voter returns.  The three contestants who received the least amount of votes were then asked to sing an INXS song.  After those performances the band chose who was safe and who would be eliminated that night.  Most of the time you could kind of tell who had a bad night and could guess who would be bottom three and then who would be eliminated by their performances.  There were some shockers but not many.
From the beginning of the show there was a group of contestants that you could tell had the vocal chops to make it to the end.  For the most part they did.  There were some early departures that I to this day think: "How did they even make the show?" There were other eliminations that I thought were totally erroneous.  I hold most of these views even after re-watching the entire season for the umpteenth time.

There were several memorable performances.  There were those that were memorable for a good reason and others for bad "Stop Go" anyone?  Who would think of listening to a song called "Stop Go"?  Every week on elimination night someone got to choose a performer to do an encore performance.  Sometimes it was INXS, sometimes others chose like Dave or the audience.  Some of the best performances of the entire show were Mig Ayesa singing Baby, I love your way by Peter Frampton,  Marty Casey's original song Trees and my all time fave Suzie McNeil and her version of Queens Bohemian Rhapsody.  Heck, I loved Marty singing "Hit Me One More Time" by Britney Spears.  I have all of these on my iPod to this day and if I hit random and get Suzie it is inevitable that I get goosebumps.
I love this show.  I love the music, the performers and the house band lead by Paul Mirkovich.  I love Dave and Brooke.  It is great to see INXS too but it is more of the music that I love.

I will not go on to say who won for those who have not seen the show or who are familiar with recent INXS albums but I will say I think that if INXS would have chosen Suzie they would have been able to bring in a whole new generation of INXS fans.

Here are a list of my favorite performances in no particular order:

Performed by Jordis Unga
The Man Who Sold the World by David Bowie
Imagine by John Lennon

Performed by Brandon Calhoon
Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd

The World Wars

I am a history buff.  I always have been.  I finally finished watching the World Wars and I think they were pretty good.  I like how they intermingled live action and then the commentary from the historians/veterans.

The World Wars is a three part mini-series or documentary on the History Channel.  I laugh....the History Channel does more than Pawn Stars these days?!?!?!?!  The show takes us from before the beginning of the first World War and to the end of the second.  The actors began by illustrating the beginning of Patton and Hitler before the beginning of WWI.  There is also a lot of narration and commentary by historians and the like.  They take the story of Patton and Hitler through to the end of the war.  All the while they include tidbits of the war and others involved.  While the story has a lot to do with Patton and Hitler, they are not the central focus.  The commentary explains more of their little known history and brings it to the forefront to better explain their actions later in WWII.

During the time between the wars they switch to two new characters, Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt.  They explain their rise to power and how their earlier actions impact their decisions later. They also show us the beginnings of the Nazi party and their rise to power.  WWII is most of the second and all of the third episode.  I really appreciate the tidbits they added from their 'experts' and their opinions.  Pretty cool really.  I am glad I took the time to watch.

Complete This Sentence

I found this at staples the other day an put it up on my wall.  Just curious what you would say to complete the sentence.  Currently mine would be "Keep Calm and Keep on Moving".

The Wil Wheaton Project

Wil Wheaton has a new show on SyFy called the Wil Wheaton Project.  The show has been on two weeks now and I am concerned.  The show is a bit like Talk Soup but all in the Science Fiction genre.  The first episode I thought Wil seemed a bit nervous and giggled a lot.  The second episode he was a bit more relaxed and came across more at ease.

I love Wil and I hope this show can continue but it has a few areas in need of improvement, in my opinion.  The really over the top laughs, whether it is a studio audience or a laugh track it needs to go.  Will needs to slow down and truly talk about what he is presenting.  His thoughts and opinions are cherished by the masses.  Just share them.

Wil also has an internet show called TableTop.  He is relaxed, personable and having fun with friends.  If he can bring this ease to his new project this will be golden.  I mean you can now go into Target and see "as seen on TableTop" tags in the games section.  This is huge!

If he can calm down and be a bit more personal, I think this will work.  He is loved by his fans.  I am one of them and I will continue to tune in for awhile.  I know he has anxiety issues and I am glad he is able to overcome them for the show.  I hope that this show is a success for Wil's sake.  Please, for the love of Wesley Crusher, give it a try.

The Quiet Feminist

Once upon a time there was a girl who believed in equal rights for all.  No distinctions between gender, race, religion, size, sexual orientation or beliefs.  She was a quiet girl, for in her formative years her classmates laughed at her for voicing her opinions as they were extreme.  Over the years the young girl grew up and remained restrained.  As the new decade came, so did changes.  Rape was no longer expected to be hushed up, and women as a whole were once again standing up together.

I confess, the little girl was me.  The outspoken dorky girl in school is no longer afraid to say what she feels is right.  What I want to say is, what the fuck took so damn long?  Rape and "rape culture" has been around forever why did it take so long to get out of the closet?  I know why it is finally out though.  It is because of all of the brave women who have not taken their horrors lying down.  They are fighting and making it public.  For them, WOO HOO you are AMAZING and I am so happy that you are strong enough to not only survive but to tell your story.

This is the one and only case in which I am happy for cell phones with cameras.  Boys, yes boys, no matter of their age who are so self important and stupid take all the photos and videos you want, share them because it only proves your guilt assholes.  I do not like cellphone cameras for much else, but in this area, bring it on jerks!

As for the men that dominate society, in the US, Pakistan, or anywhere else.  Watch out, here we come.  No longer are we standing by quietly, we will fight for our sisters and all of our rights as human beings.  The police and judicial branch of all governments (which are of course are ruled by men) need to get a fucking clue and get off of their asses.  This can NOT be tolerated ANY LONGER.  The more we shout out the stories of the misogynistic society the more the Santa Barbara police have to pay attention and maybe, just maybe, they might stop that asshat before he shoots a dozen people.  The more we publicize the stoning of women in Pakistan, the more her government will have to take action.  After all, they do not want to look cruel and ass backwards to the rest of the world.

I have some questions.  Why are little girls not allowed to play in most little leagues?  Why are softballs made bigger than baseballs?  Why are they yellow?  I do not understand.  Look at the rest of the physical qualifications of softball players.  Are they really all that different from baseball players?

I am sure this will anger some men out there.  For those that take offense, why are you offended?  I am not challenging you in any way.  I am stating that things are changing and equality is a good thing.    No one, and I mean NO ONE is more important or better than another because of the gender they are born with or the gender they choose.

Game Night

On Sundays I get together with a group of guys and we play random board games.  We play anything from Elder Sign to Trivial Pursuit and everything in between.  We rotate houses and who buys dinner.  I met this group at Convolution last year and we have been playing every week since then.  I have to say, I have found some new games that I LOVE and some that were meeeh.

I like the more involved Elder Sign and Dominion but did not really enjoy the boring Love Letters.  Kittens in a Blender is crass and hilarious.  A great starter game is Ticket to Ride.  It is easy enough and if you have children they can play too.  There are many versions and expansions but try the original first.

If you are not big into boardgames I am sorry.  I grew up in a home that loved to play games together.  Thank goodness I have finally found others that as adults love to play also.  I think some of this has to do with Wil Wheaton and his show Table Top that is found on the Geek and Sundry network and on YouTube.

I am soon to be moving to Denver and this is my last weekend to play.  I do not know what we are going to play but it is kind of bitter sweet.  I cant wait to play, yet I will miss my new friends and our weekly game night.  I hope that I can come across some other gamers in Denver that are as cool as Angelo and Keith are.  I will miss them.

The Goldbergs were RENEWED!!!!!!

FINALLY The Goldbergs got the green light for a season 2.  By far the best sitcom on TV today.  I am so glad.  Their season finale was just as great as was the entire season.  I can not wait for the next season.  AGAIN if you have not checked this show out, you sooooooo need to.

Survivor Finale

I have been away for awhile and for that I am sorry.  Moving is a mess an takes a toll.  I am only halfway through...UGGGG.
Now onto the real topic at hand....Survivor
The finale was Sunday and it went as it should have.  No bitter jury and for that I am happy.  The final four were Spencer, Kass, Woo and Tony.

Kass wins immunity and votes out Spencer.  I am bummed because I want Spencer to win it all but I understand that if Spencer went to the final two he would have won so I get it.  Woo wins the final immunity and decides to stick to loyalty and keeps Tony.  If he would have taken Kass he would have won hands down.  At the final tribal the entire jury lays into Tony and gives Woo an easy time.  Spencer is the final jury member to ask a question and he takes the majority of his time to talk to the other jury members and tells them to put the bitterness aside and look at who was playing the game from the moment his feet hit ground.  In the end the jury had one vote for Woo and one the rest were for Tony.  Tony was as abrasive as was Russell Hantz it is just that Tony had a Spencer on his side and made a plea to the jury for him and Russell did not.  That is why Russell lost and Tony won.
All in all, this was a good season.  One of the better in the last few.  We shall see how next season goes.  Congrats to all of the Survivors.

A Sunday in Augusta

There is nothing like a Sunday at the Masters.  Golf, folks, golf.  I am talking about golf.  The Masters is a tournament played in Augusta, Georgia and is the first major championship of the golf season.  Augusta is one of the if not the most elite golf course in the country.  It is arguably one most beautiful and historic courses in the world.

For decades the tournament is made or lost on this final day.  Great golfers have won and lost on this, the final day in this tumultuous tournament.  This tournament has given us the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan, Sam Sneed and way to many more to go on.  For years there has been a tradition of honorary tournament openers.  This year was Player, Palmer and Nicklaus.
The Green Masters Jacket

The International Olympic Committee decided to add golf to the agenda for the summer Olympics in 2016.  I laugh.  No matter if you become Olympic champion or not, the most coveted prize in all of the sport is the Green Jacket. The Green Jacket is only given once a year to the sole winner of the Masters. (stupid idea on the IOC's part if you ask me) Several players have won multiple times and theoretically multiple jackets, but in total only 49 have been awarded.

Bubba Watson
This year is nothing different.  Stories and legends are made on this day.  Today the two highest golfers on the leader board are Bubba Watson and 20-year-old Jordan Spieth.  I love me some Bubba but if Jordan wins, he takes a title from Tiger Woods for the youngest player to ever win the Masters.  I am really, really happy about that idea.  There are many others who were in contention including 54 year old Fred Couples.  This year was kind of strange in that so may big names did not make it through the cut Friday and into weekend play.

Jordan Spieth
Birdies and Bogeys followed both of the leaders and many others were making a run on the leader board.  As Bubba began to Birdie, Jordan began to Bogey.  I am sad for the new kid but I love me some Bubba.  Many climbed and some fell.  This is an average Sunday at the Masters.  Congrats to all who played, you are all winners.

For all of my life I have had this impression of golfers to be that of stuffy old guys.  No matter if they were in their 20's they seemed old.  Then came Rickie Fowler, Bubba Watson, Ben Crane and Hunter Mahan~ The Golf Boys.  The Boys are awesome.  They are a younger generation breaking all of the norms I think of about golfers.  The Golf Boys are all professional golfers and they have made two music videos.  I like the second more than the first.

To my rant.......WTF CBS?!?!?!?!?!? Where the hell is the theme song for the Masters?!?!?!?  They have a damn YouTube video for this song.  It was written in 1981 ESPECIALLY for the Masters.  When every other network was broadcasting all week they used the song.  WHERE THE HELL IS IT ON SUNDAY?!?!?!?!  BOO HISS! If you also noticed it was missing tweet CBS here:
